Madison County Republicans Bring Clarity to Property Tax Season

On July 28th from 6:00 to 7:30pm, Madison County Republicans hosted a free seminar at the Highland Knights of Columbus Hall meeting room called "Demystifying Property Taxes: The Basics of Assessments, Exemptions, Appeals, and Local Tax Spending." Madison County Chief County Assessment Officer Jessica Dudley, CIAO, and Madison County Treasurer Mike Babcock spoke, walking attendees through how property taxes are calculated and where that money goes.

Twenty-five people turned out, including several new faces who hadn't previously participated in a Madison County Republicans event. Attendees responded well to the information, and a number left having identified property tax exemptions they qualified for but hadn't previously known about. Some also had existing assessment issues resolved on the spot, real, tangible wins to come out of a single evening.

Madison County Republicans plans to keep hosting events like this one, focused on issues that matter directly to residents. Up next is the group's Annual Patriot Scramble golf tournament on August 14th at Belk Park Golf Course in Wood River.
