Mike Walters Elected Chairman of the Madison County Republican Party

The Madison County Republican Party proudly announces the election of Mike Walters as its new Chairman, ushering in a new chapter of experienced leadership and dedicated public service.

Michael Walters brings more than two decades of public service and legislative experience in Madison County and across Illinois. His long-standing commitment to the community and deep understanding of government operations position him well to lead the organization forward.

Walters served 23 years as an elected official in Madison County. He began his public service as a trustee for the Village of Godfrey, where he served for seven years before being elected to the Madison County Board. During his 16 years on the board, he held key leadership roles, including six years as Chairman Pro Tem, demonstrating his ability to lead, collaborate, and deliver results.

In addition to his elected service, Walters built a 22-year career as a lobbyist in Springfield, where he developed extensive knowledge of state government, legislative strategy, and policy development. His professional experience complements his public service, offering a well-rounded perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing the party and the region.

Walters and his wife, Polly, celebrate 34 years of marriage and have raised three children. His career reflects a strong commitment to public service, leadership, and the communities he has served.

As Chairman, Walters is expected to focus on strengthening party organization, supporting candidates, and advancing Republican principles throughout Madison County.
